about me.
Susan Martinez is an Ecuadorian journalist covering underreported, local stories that have global relevance. Her award-winning work spanning three years on the floods of South Sudan harnessed millions in aid for the flood-stranded villages of Old Fangak and Paguir, and broke the news globally about what could have been an ignored crisis. Susan has covered famine, forced migration, natural disasters, and women’s issues around Africa and South America, and her work has been published worldwide by The Guardian, Al-Jazeera, and El Pais España among others.
Susan is a video producer and videographer. In 2023, Susan’s work was exhibited at the prestigious OXO Gallery in London after being privately showcased at diplomatic conferences in South Sudan.
Susan’s work aims at building more viscerally real, yet, decidedly optimistic stories told by people born in the global south. Hope is the objective. Building it, nurturing it, and convincing humanity that we are worth the fight.
